Absalom

Ab´suh-luhm

One of the sons of Israel’s greatest king, David. The story of Absalom is told in (2Sam 13-20). He fell out of favor with his father after avenging the rape of his sister Tamar by his half brother Amnon and, eventually, led an uprising against David. Though David gave orders to spare the prince, his general Joab had him slaughtered as an archrebel.
