A container for fire used for warming a living area. Jehoiakim sat before a fire burning in a brazier and threw in pieces of Jeremiah’s scroll of prophecy as it was read to him (Jer 36:22; Jer 36:23). It was probably made of clay, although in the palace of a king it could possibly be of metal.

Jer 36:22

22Now the king was sitting in his winter apartment (it was the ninth month), and there was a fire burning in the brazier before him.
