Bethesda (Buh-thez´duh)

A name found in later NT manuscripts for the original Bethzatha in (John 5:2). It is the Hebrew name of the pool near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem.

John 5:2

2Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-zatha, which has five porticoes.
