Uthai

Uthai (Yoo´thi)

1 A postexilic inhabitant of Jerusalem, a Judahite of the clan of Perez (1Chr 9:4). 2 A member of the clan of Bigvai who returned from the Babylonian captivity with Ezra (Ezra 8:14). The name may be a variant of Athaiah, which, following an Arabic etymology, would mean “pride of Yahweh” or “Yahweh is my pride.”

1Chr 9:4

4Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, from the sons of Perez son of Judah.

Ezra 8:14

14Of the descendants of Bigvai, Uthai and Zaccur, and with them seventy males.
