Tirhakah

Tirhakah (Tuhr-hay´kuh; Taharka in the Egyptian records)

A pharaoh of Egypt’s twenty-fifth (“Ethiopian”) dynasty who reigned ca. 690–664 BCE. According to (2Kgs 19:9; (Isa 37:9), Sennacherib received a report that the “Ethiopian king” Tirhakah was marching out against him. At that moment the Assyrian army was engaged in a military campaign against Judah and was attacking Libnah in the Judean Shephelah (lowlands).

9When the king heard concerning King Tirhakah of Ethiopia, “See, he has set out to fight against you,” he sent messengers again to Hezekiah, saying,

Isa 37:9

9Now the king heard concerning King Tirhakah of Ethiopia, “He has set out to fight against you.” When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
