Sychar

Sychar (Si´kahr)

According to (John 4:5), a village in Samaria where Jesus spoke with the Samaritan women (John 4:5-42). (John 4:5) locates the village near a field reputedly given by Jacob to his son Joseph, with a well still active in Jesus’s time (John 4:6).

5So he came to a Samaritan city called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.

John 4:6

6Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired out by his journey, was sitting by the well. It was about noon.
