Shobach

Shobach (Shoh´bak)

The commander of the eastern Aramean forces of Hadadezer, who marshaled troops to assault David. In the subsequent fight at Helam in the Transjordan Shobach’s forces were beaten decisively and Shobach himself was mortally wounded. The defeat stymied further Aramean-Ammonite action against David (2Sam 10:15-19; 1Chr 19:16-19, “Shophach”).
