Pethahiah

Pethahiah (Peth´uh-hi´uh)

1 The head of the family to which the nineteenth division of the priesthood was assigned in the time of David (1Chr 24:16). 2 A Levite who participated in Ezra’s penitential service (Neh 9:5). He was among those who agreed to divorce foreign wives (Ezra 10:23). 3 A Judahite of the time of Nehemiah, who was “at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people” (Neh 11:24), which may mean that he served as an adviser on Jewish affairs at the Persian court.
