Neapolis

Neapolis (Nee-ap´uh-lis; Gk., “new city”)

The name of many Greco-Roman towns founded near ancient sites. Neapolis in the NT is the seaport, modern Kavalla, for Philippi, ten miles inland (Acts 16:11).
