Moriah

Moriah (Muh-ri´uh)

1 An unidentified site in rugged terrain three days’ travel from Beer-sheba where Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac (Gen 22:2). 2 The rocky hill in Jerusalem where Solomon built the Temple (2Chr 3:1), a possibly deliberate cross-identification by the Chronicler with David’s purchased threshing floor (2Sam 24:18-25). In that way the Temple, built on land belonging to David, could be associated with him, even if he was not allowed to build it (2Sam 7).
