mildew

mildew (Heb., “yellow” or “pale”)

Generally a fungal growth on organic matter or plants. In the Bible, mildew is often viewed as divine punishment (Deut 28:22). It is a tool of God’s judgment (Hag 2:17; Amos 4:9), and relief from it is a divine grace (1Kgs 8:37; 2Chr 6:28).
