Meshelemiah

Meshelemiah (Mi-shel´uh-mi´uh)

A Korahite Levite who was the head of a family of gatekeepers in the time of David (1Chr 9:21; 1Chr 26:1-2). He is probably the same person elsewhere called Shallum (1Chr 9:17; 1Chr 9:19; possibly also 1Chr 9:31) and Shelemiah (1Chr 26:14). A postexilic family group of gatekeepers were called “descendants of Shallum” and are assumed to be descendants of Meshelemiah (Ezra 2:42; Neh 7:45).

1Chr 9:21

21Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
