Meraioth

Meraioth (Mi-ray┬┤yoth)

1 A descendant of Aaron identified as the son of Zerahiah (1Chr 6:6; 1Chr 6:52) and the father of Amariah (1Chr 6:7; 1Chr 6:52). 2 The father of Zadok, the son of Ahitub (1Chr 9:11), and an ancestor of Azariah the priest (Ezra 7:3; Neh 11:11). 3 An ancestral priestly house (Neh 12:15) in the days of Joiakim in postexilic Judah. It is possible that 1 and 2 are identical, and that 3 designates descendants from the family of 1 and 2.
