Mahlon (Mah´lon)

The son of Elimelech and Naomi, with whom he immigrated to Moab “when the judges ruled” Israel (Ruth 1:1-2; Ruth 1:5; Ruth 4:9-10). He married Ruth, a Moabitess, but died childless. The book named after his widow, Ruth, tells how she ultimately bore a son who was regarded as heir not only to Mahlon’s estate, but also to that of Boaz, Ruth’s new husband.
