Mahath (May´hath)

A Levite, the father (and grandson?) of Elkanah. He participated in the cleansing of the Temple during Hezekiah’s reforms (2Chr 29:12) and later shared the responsibility of collecting the Temple offerings (2Chr 31:13). He may be the same Levite who belonged to the clan of Kohath (1Chr 6:35).
