Kerioth

Kerioth (KairĀ“ee-oth; Kirioth, Amos 2:2)

1 A town in the mountains of Idumea, west of the southern shore of the Dead Sea, the Kirioth-hezron of (Josh 15:25). 2 A city in Moab (Jer 48:24; Jer 48:41). Numerous sites have been proposed by modern archaeologists. It may have been a royal city of some sort, as (Amos 2:2) refers to its royal palaces.

Josh 15:25

25Hazor-hadattah, Kerioth-hezron (that is, Hazor),

Jer 48:24

24and Kerioth, and Bozrah, and all the towns of the land of Moab, far and near.

Jer 48:41

41the towns shall be taken
and the strongholds seized.
The hearts of the warriors of Moab, on that day,
shall be like the heart of a woman in labor.

Amos 2:2

2So I will send a fire on Moab,
and it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth,
and Moab shall die amid uproar,
amid shouting and the sound of the trumpet;
