Junia

Junia (Joo´nee-uh)

A Christian to whom Paul sends greetings in (Rom 16:7). It is unclear whether a masculine name (Junias, NIV, RSV) or a feminine name (Junia, KJV, NRSV) is intended, since some manuscripts read the one and some the other. The masculine form, however, is not found elsewhere and may not have existed as a proper name. If a woman, Junia may be the wife of Andronicus. It is significant that the two are perhaps referred to as “apostles.”

Rom 16:7

7Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.
