Hashum (Hay´shuhm)

1 The name of a clan of returnees to Jerusalem in postexilic times. The clan numbered either 223 (Ezra 2:19), 7 of whom were found to have married foreign women (Ezra 10:33), or 328 (Neh 7:22). 2 An individual who stood with Ezra at the reading of the law (Neh 8:4). 3 A name that appeared on Nehemiah’s sealed documents (Neh 10:18).
