Any animate being whose existence is dependent upon God (Gen 1:20; Gen 1:24; Ps 104:24; Rev 5:13). Despite some translations of (2Cor 5:17), Paul’s reference there is probably to “a new creation” inclusively, not specifically to “a new creature.”
