A smith or carpenter whose work is mentioned in connection with the building of the Temple and often in idol making (Acts 19:24; Isa 40:19 [“workman”]; Isa 44:12); (Neh 3:8; 1Kgs 7:14).

Acts 19:24

24A man named Demetrius, a silversmith who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the artisans.
