Boanerges

Boanerges (Boh´uh-nuhr´jeez)

The name given by Jesus to James and John, sons of Zebedee (Mark 3:17). The meaning, “sons of thunder,” could refer to tempestuous dispositions or to manner of speech, but most likely to the former.

Mark 3:17

17James son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder);
