Bezek (Bee´zik)

1 A Canaanite city also occupied by the Perizzites, ruled by Adoni-bezek and defeated by the tribes of Judah and Simeon shortly after Joshua’s death (Judg 1:1-7). 2 A city in north-central Canaan used by Saul as the assembly point for his rally of men to rescue the besieged city of Jabesh-gilead from the Ammonites (1Sam 11:8). It is identified as modern Khirbet Ibziq, about twelve miles northeast of Shechem (Nablus) and some sixteen miles west of Jabesh-gilead.
