Berechiah

Berechiah (Bair´uh-ki´uh; Heb., “Yah[weh] has blessed”)

1 A son of Zerubbabel (1Chr 3:20). 2 The father of Asaph and son of Shimea; a Levite (1Chr 6:39; 1Chr 15:17). 3 A son of Asa; a Levite and a gatekeeper for the Ark (1Chr 9:16; 1Chr 15:23). 4 A son of Meshillemoth; an Ephraimite chief (2Chr 28:12). 5 The father of Meshullam (Neh 3:4; Neh 3:30; Neh 6:18). 6 A son of Iddo and the father of the prophet Zechariah (Zech 1:1; Zech 1:7). 7 The full name of Jeremiah’s scribe Baruch. 8 Beracah, a Benjaminite follower of David (1Chr 12:3), whose name is often emended to Berechiah (cf. LXX).
