Ashkelon (Ash´kuh-lon; variously spelled Askalon, Askelon, Eshkalon, Ascalon)

A city located about twelve miles north of Gaza. It was identified as one of the Philistine Pentapolis cities (Josh 13:3; 1Sam 6:4; 1Sam 6:17; Judg 14:19).
