Amon

Amon (Am´uhn)

1 A governor of the city of Samaria in the reign of Ahab (1Kgs 22:10; 1Kgs 22:26). 2 A king of Judah, the son of and successor to Manasseh. He was the father of Josiah. He became king at age twenty-two and ruled for two years (642–640 BCE); he was murdered in his palace by servants (2Kgs 21:19-26; 2Chr 33:21-25).
