Adonizedek (Uh-doh´ni-zee´dek; Heb., meaning uncertain, either “my lord is righteous” or “my god is Zedek [a deity]”)

The Amorite king of Jerusalem who, fearing the strength of the invading Israelites, organized a coalition with four other kings to attack the city of Gibeon because its inhabitants had formed an alliance with Joshua. The attack failed, and he and the other kings were put to death by Joshua (Josh 10:1-26).
