Abednego

Abednego (Uh-bed´ni-goh)

The new name given to Azariah, one of Daniel’s three companions (Dan 1:7) who were appointed over the province of Babylon (Dan 2:40) and subsequently thrown into the fiery furnace.

Dan 1:7

7The palace master gave them other names: Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called Meshach, and Azariah he called Abednego.

Dan 2:40

40And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron; just as iron crushes and smashes everything, it shall crush and shatter all these.
